This is my unmolested 1989 Mustang LX 5.0 Convertible 5-Speed with 156K miles that I bought in 2007 and figured I would keep forever. Clean CARFAX, no accidents.

This was a Texas car until about 110,000 miles then brought to Illinois by the son when he went in to the military at Great Lake. It sat in a storage unit and only driven in summer until I bought at 137,000 miles in April 2007.

I made this car a solid reliable “Driver” with money being no object in getting it super reliable and took it on four (4) Hot Rod Power Tours (3500 miles each). Otherwise I just took my two kids to local cruise nights and used it a couple time for parades.
Four Hot Rod Power Tours (approx. 12K miles) and not a single issue. This is car you don’t buy and now need to change all the fluid and replace a bunch of maintenance part, I did it already for you! Just add gas!
On 3/21/15 I took it out of storage and it started up immediately then I drove it 4+ hours to Madison, Wis and back just to make sure everything worked perfect. I could not test the A/C temp being cold out already, but clutch cycles

It is very nice and always receives compliments, but understand this is not a $ 10K show car; it is a very nice driver that I would jump in and drive to California right out of the storage garage today.

I keep my stuff mint and never beat on or abuse anything! I have been working on cars for 20+ years and maintenance is #1 to me.

New Items since I purchased it and everything is factory Motorcraft or Ford Racing (not for racing, but for reliability), NO junk auto part store crap:
• Rebuilt World Class T5 with steel input shaft, carbon fiber syncro linings and HD T5Z spec
gears)
• Ford Racing HD Clutch (10% easier pedal effort w/30% increase clutch pressure
Resurfaced flywheel
Clutch fork
Ford Racing OEM clutch cable
Rear main seal while trans was out
• Factory “Carlite” convertible top and upgraded padding — not the crap eBay ones for $ 250
• Ford Silicone hoses
• Ford Racing spark plugs wires and Motorcraft plugs
• Motorcraft heater core — very common to fail and $ $ $ to fix
• Had a timing cover leak so replaced everything that came off the car to repair:
• Ford Racing timing gear/chain
• Ford Racing Balancer
• Ford Racing Water pump
• Motorcraft Alternator
• Motorcraft power steering pump (now leaking hose as of 3/21/15 when I pulled it out of storage)
• DSO “Police” high volume fan clutch (Alabama 95*F heat I sat idled for almost an hour with
A/C going while $ 100K+ resto-rods were overheating)
• Balanced DSO Police 180* thermostat (not cheap Stant from Autozone) — installed for
PowerTour reliability only
• KYB Shocks/Struts
• 4 wheel brake pads (Performance Stop) with new rotors/drums
• Ford Motorsport 3-point tower brace and welded rear frame ties(aftermarket) — makes it nice and tight without the notorious cowl shake
• Walbro 155lph fuel pump — just as preventative before PowerTour
• Tires are decent, bought them in new in 2008 Bridgestone Sport RE780 (225/55-16)
• New Autozone Gold battery

Compression (cold) 5/2/14 — (cyl psi 1-8) 145/145/150/145/150/150/152/152

Other – The cats were bad when I bough it so I just put replacement through pipes instead until I found a factory exhaust w/cats. This car is exempt from emission so never really looked hard for replacement cats.

I have an easy $ 500-1000 in extra parts (picture of garage wall) and service manuals that I will use as part of the negotiation but is NOT part of the $ 4900 price. . .yet.
Low ball offers ignored so if you don’t get a reply, the answer is no.

Most of car is original paint with the exception of the front and rear bumpers skins which is almost impossible to keep 25 years later.
There is a small amount of rust showing through a couple portions of the door skins but have been the same since 2007 so not an issue.

The car is located in a storage garage in Genoa City, Wis (next to Richmond, Il) at the Ill/Wis boarder so PLEASE Google how far and don’t ask “where are you located” or cancel an appointment to meet because I just figured out it is too far.

I will not hold it or make over the phone offers. Real offers come with a deposit unless you have all the cash with you, and that is how the best deal will be made.
You must have valid drivers license to test drive and you will signing a waiver that you take full responsibility of $ 4900 for ANY accident, regardless of how minor. Nobody under 18 years old.

4/1/15 Update:
LOWERED PRICE $ 4900 ->$ 4500
Rear driver side small window slips (motor works and can maually pull window up and I have parts for fix) Plastic torque buttons stripped

$ 4500 OBO — CASH TALKS! — I just bought a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT so the Mustang has to go – my agreement with my wife
